Scandit enables businesses and consumers to interact with everyday objects by blending the physical and digital worlds using computer vision. Scandit technology is a unique machine learning platform combining leading-edge barcode scanning, text recognition (OCR), object recognition and augmented reality (AR) for use on any camera-equipped smart device, from smartphones to drones, wearables and robots.
Employed as the in-house website manager my responsibilities range from web design & development, content publishing, translation management, search engine optimisation, performance monitoring and all-round fixer upper.
Wealth of knowledge
With well over nine years worth of content, this was a large site to take on. When I first started at Scandit, a redesign project had already begun with the goal of wrangling it's four thousand or so pages into submission. I joined the team and helped out with development, all the while moving the old site over to a new hosting provider and keeping that older version of the site running smoothly.
Future-proofed
When development finished, we had built a fast and responsive website that would be a solid foundation to build upon for years to come. Our component based approach to development has allowed content publishers to quickly build pages and if required, for me to develop new components with ease.
In your tongue
Aside from the wealth of knowledge published in English, we also create pages in Japanese, German, Spanish, Italian and French. Scandit is expanding globally and we must speak our customers language. In addition, extra special care needs to be taken with layout as some lines of text can run very long — looking at you Deutsch.
